How Seguro Helped a Plumbing and Heating Contractor Achieve Accreditation

The Challenge

A plumbing and heating contractor needed Constructionline Gold accreditation to support its eligibility for larger commercial contracts and meet client tender requirements.

Although the company had basic health and safety documentation in place, several areas needed improvement, including:

  • An outdated Health and Safety Policy.
  • Incomplete employee training records.
  • Generic risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
  • Limited subcontractor management and supervision procedures.
  • Additional evidence requested during the assessment.

Seguro’s Solution

Seguro Health and Safety completed a compliance review and supported the contractor throughout the Constructionline Gold application process.

The support included:

  • Developing a new company specific Health and Safety Policy.
  • Updating risk assessments and method statements to reflect the work undertaken.
  • Improving subcontractor management and supervision procedures.
  • Managing documentation uploads and application requirements.
  • Responding to two rounds of assessor feedback and providing revised evidence.

Additional assessor queries covered employee competency, supervision, toolbox talks, environmental procedures and expired training certificates.

Seguro also arranged training in asbestos awareness, manual handling, working at height and COSHH awareness. A training matrix was introduced to help monitor employee training and future refresher requirements.

The Results

With Seguro’s support, the contractor successfully achieved Constructionline Gold accreditation.

Key outcomes included:

  • Constructionline Gold accreditation achieved.
  • An updated, company specific Health and Safety Policy implemented.
  • Additional workforce training arranged.
  • Improved health and safety documentation and compliance processes.
  • Better preparation for commercial tender opportunities.

Accreditation can help contractors meet relevant pre qualification requirements, although individual clients may have additional criteria.
